My name is Nathan Horsman. I'm a professional horse trainer in Wasilla, AK.

My family and I moved up here from Illinois about 3 years ago. While in Illinois I trained all breeds of horses. I trained for Pleasure/Trail, colt starting, problem horses, gave riding lessons, clinics, and began getting into cutting/reining.

I've been riding horses since I was old enough to walk. I learned a lot of what I know from my father, who was previously a board member for the CHA (Certified Horsemanship Association) and currently still maintains his CI (Clinic Instructor) certification.

But of all the teachers I've had, I have always and continue, to learn most everything from the horse. I believe that this is what being a "student of the horse" is all about. It's not about what you've accomplished, who you are or who you learned from. It's about what you are willing to learn from the next horse. Because that horse doesn't care how many ribbons you've won, but they CAN tell if you are willing to learn from them.

I will always be the first to say that the more I learn, the more it points out how little I know. I will go to my grave not know half of what there is to training a horse. But I will continue to learn something from every horse I train. And that is what makes my job fun!
